ok ok ok... i know its old, and to most people probably junk. it has a missing key and looks like it survived a natural disaster... haha... but its my first laptop and even tho i have two others this one has the majority of the last 4 or 5 years of my life in it. ive purchased bigger and better but given my choice i prefer my old HP. i thought about buying one off of ebay i see them all the time sold as parts and stuff. like water damage... or mother board... whatever. would it be worth buying another one ive seen them for 40 and 50 bucks. then have my computer guy just put all my stuff in the new one? cant i just buy the screen? what would you do? i can get the work done cheap. i just wouldn't want to spend over $100 in it. i need the keys anyways. what do you think? do you know a good place to buy laptop parts or a good site that sells electronics or junk? id just like to get this ol girl up and running again. even now she comes super fast n ready to go.... i just cant see anything. thanks for your time. thanks for your opinion. if anyone out there has a HP ze4900 HIT ME UP. im thinkin all i need is the shell with a function screen RIGHT???? i pray its that easy. :) ~doug

Yeah I'd just buy the cheapest used one you can find, and either take the screen out of it, and put it in yours, which is really very easy. I don't think you'd have any problem at all doing it yourself. Just take your time and pay attention to how everything is comming appart, and don't force anything. If you don't do stuff like this very often, it may help to keep taking pictures as you're disassembling it, or else film the process. This way, if you forget how to put it back together, you'll be able to refer to the pics or the video.

Another option would be just to take your hard drive out of your computer, and put it into the used one that you buy, and you'll have your computer back. This would definately be the most simple choice.

it rather is repaired, in spite of the fact that this is ordinarily costly. nevertheless greater value-effective than paying for a clean lappy although. sounds like the liquid crystal exhibit exhibit has been broken. The exhibit you seem at is actual a skinny sheet. The plastic in the back of it, making the computer lid, and the plastic edges (referred to as bezels) are only the bits to hold it in place. you will possibly desire to purchase the liquid crystal exhibit monitors on ebay a great sort of the time -seem up the computer type and exhibit length - and there are various tutorials accessible that would walk you thru changing a exhibit in case you're courageous and affected person sufficient. Google will help with this.

Not sure the parts exist in HP Auth'd repair shop. What you saw on eBay is good as it could be, even if HP repair shop can take it in it's about $200 a pop no one would do it.
