photos looks stretched widthwise in a widescreen LCD monitor.Any method to see them normally in wide LCD?

Photos taken by digital cameras has a pixel aspect ratio of 1.33 and they look normal in a CRT monitor or in a LCD monitor having aspect ratio of1.3.But they look stretched width wise when seen in an widescreen LCD monitor(aspect ratio of 1.6).Changing the screen resolution of the LCD monitor is not helpful.

Make sure your monitor is set to a Widescreen format (resolution) such as 1280 x 720, 1366 x 768, 1440 x 900, 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200 and of course, 1920 x 1080 -- which ever your LCD supports. That will also make everything fit better on your screen. Hope that helps.

Changing the res of the monitor is not the solution for you're problem. If you want you're picture to maintain aspect ratio, and want to view the pic on Widescreen, you may have to compensate the res of the picture. Many picture viewing softwares configure the aspect ratio of the pic and display their actual ratio. If you want the picture to be displayed full screen on a widescreen monitor, the actual picture should match monitor's aspect ratio.

it would be better if u'd described the desktop size..there is no way to strech small size wallpapers to a bigger screen size..so try downloading the suitable screen size wallpapers..
