When i rec'd my new computer, my brother-in-law had installed 'black XP' onto it, so I do not have any original software CD's. I would like to get rid of the black XP and re-install everything from new using legit s/w. I currently have nothing worth saving on my PC so I'm not worried about losing anything important. How do I go about clearing everything out of the computer so when I put in my new, legit, XP sw CD, so it loads correctly? PS: I had a previous issue where I tried re-loading the black XP CD, and now I have 2 O/S's loaded - one I can access and one I can't. Help! Computer is completely messed!

Put in the new XP cd and restart the computer and make sure it boots from the CD and not the Hard Drive. It'll start to load all of the Windows Files and drivers it needs to run. It should ask you where to install Windows and display the list of free space and partitioned space. Delete the partition that has Black XP on it and then format the the space using NTFS. From here Windows will pretty much do the rest. After it is finished installing, you will need to reinstall any drivers, sound card, motherboard, video card(onboard video).

Its suitable to ask your producer for the OS disk & your utility and Drivers disk. Wipe the HDD then re-set up the OS and cargo all your production facility default utility & drivers form the disk provided by applying the producer.

pop in cd, reboot to disk, delete partitions and create a new one, install!
