my color bit configuration will not go any higher then 16 bits, please help me.....?

i recently got dell web pc from my friend and when he had it it was completely perfect picture color and about 1 week ago i reinstalled windows 98 into the computer and now all of a sudden all it has that it will allow me to change to is either 2 bit or 16 bit colors wich suck! im currently on 16 and on 16bit theres dots everywhere and you can barely see pictures,nothing is clear. on 2 bit its black and white and dots everywhere.........plz help

You need to download new drivers for your video card and monitor. I have no idea what kind of Dell you have, but you should be able to go to their web site and look it up based on either the label on the computer or the Service Tag # or whatever it's called.

either yau have the wrong video driver installed, or default monitor, check in the properties and see if it default monitor, change to plug and play, and it it wasy default vga or something, get the right drivers for your particular video card
