Yes you can. Some video cards have dual input plugs, allowing you to have two monitors. Alternatively, you can simply install a second video card.

With two monitors, you can either have a wider desktop (the mouse crosses between the two monitors) or have the same desktop twice.

You could even have three, and many gamers do...

On most computers yes. On the desk top right click and then click on properties or the video card (depending on your os) And if you click on settings and see more than one monitor options you can customize the settings for the other monitor. You can have it as a second monitor or as an extension.

If your graphics card supports it, you just run the VGA or DVI cables from each monitor to the card. Dual head graphics cards will have....wait for it....dual heads. (Head = a port to which a monitor is attached) Once connected, it's a simple matter of telling your operating system that you'd like to extend your desktop into the 2nd monitor. This is done through the display settings dialog.

Yes. If you use a VGA splitter, you'll get the exact same image on both monitors.

If you have a video card with two output ports, however, you can have an "Extended desktop" which sees the two as one, or you also have the option of a "cloned" screen, as previously mentioned.

You do not need to buy an expensive one, either, just one with two output ports with either VGA, DVI, or any combination of both.

yea I'm doing right now. You need a special video card. It's helpful for my job. Some people use it for games that let you display multiple views.
