My computer screen is too dark and i turned up the settings all the way on the monitor. What else can it be?

It could be the monitor or your video card, borrow someones monitor before purchasing a new one. If it's still dark, you will need a video card.

Was it ever lighter? If so then your backlight is probably going out you can replace this if you have decent technical abilities, but it can be tricky depending on your monitor style. If it never was brighter than it is just how the monitor ships always check the brightness rating before buying a monitor. It could also be software related as the others have suggested.

There are software settings also. Have you tried those? If that does not work get a new monitor.

press "FN" and hold then press the "RIGHT ARROW" and then if its too bright press "FN" and "LEFT ARROW" !

it is a driver issue I guess, try to reset color setting in your driver console if exist or install the latest driver suitable for your gpu..

if i were u,

i will goto display properties then advanced and play with settings over there and see if it helps.

if not ill borrow a monitor and plug it into the computer and see if it works.

if everything fails, it is the video adapter which has to be changed

Monitor could be going bad. Settings on your video card could be off with brighness set too low. Video card could also be going bad.
