A while ago I posted this question:

I am 14 and lately my computer seized up and Dad gave me his really nice expensive little net book. He got a new one for him, but this is not old, this thing. It's practically new itself. I am so freaked, help me.. Okay, so it was five minutes ago I got up to go to the loo and I accidentally stepped on it, just LIGHTLY, I barely put ANY weight on it. Now there are black crack-like marks from the side all halfway across the screen, it's a softish screen you know, it doesn't feel like glass, but it looks like the stuff behind it cracked and there's a couple of black blotches too you know.. it flickers if you touch it. I feel sick with nerves and guilt about it. I love him so much and he did this for me and transferred all my data across from my old one and set it all up, and I've broken it after having it for about four days.
I am in tears. Is there a way to fix it or what should I do because I haven't told anyone!!!??
Please, please. I am torn up. These cracks are HUGE. It is working OK but is it dangerous and what can I do?? He's a lovely dad but he might get angry. I accidentally stepped on my old one quite a few times but nothing happened, and I tried to be so careful with this!! Help help help.

Thing is, I think the cracks and the black holes are getting worse.. can I stop them growing??!! ANY RECOMMENDATION WILL DO.

Thanks,
Gingersnaps

I`m sorry, I`m afraid you`ve cracked the screen and there`s noting you can do but buy a new one.

The same happened to my daughters laptop and the screen did get worse, she had to have it replaced.

Your Dad`s going to see it eventually so you`re best to tell him and offer to pay for a new one being fitted, out of your pocket money.

Accidents do happen, but it`s very careless to leave a laptop on the floor.

If the liquid crystal show show screen has cracked it gets worse and you will start to loose the photograph. you need to take it to a close by provider place and function them do an assessment. the subject could take weeks or it ought to happen in a single day. in merely a uncommon difficulty does it stay a small subject. Be very careful with the computing device, do no longer drop to look after it style of. If the show screen does not come decrease than rigidity that's going to final longer.

A cracked LCD can NOT be fixed and there is no way to stop the damage from growing, but the LCD can be replaced. I'm not sure, though, how much will it cost you if you bring it to a repair shop. If you know someone who has an ebay account and is techie enough to replace the LCD, you can buy one for around $60.

Ok, first of all being careful, you should never step on a computer screen! My recommendation is get it fixed! You won't fix it yourself since it's recent, you should still be on warranty (whether or not they will pay for some of the repairs I doubt since you stepped on it but you never know!). Also, parts for netbooks tend to get pricey quickly as soon as they aren't too popular anymore and since most people would rather buy a new one, not a lot of companies keep spare parts as they do with laptops.

Get a new screen. Ebay is good, you can pick one up for about £80

Or, get a trashed laptop of the same kind and whip the screen outta that :)
