Whats wrong with my Dell display?

I have a 1564 Inspiron, I bought it about a year ago, the problem started with some screen flickering and color fluctuations about 6 months ago, it comes and goes, then it got worse to the point where the entire screen would turn white after brief fluctuations. The screen also turns white when I put a video in full-screen mode, these days it's so bad that I can't move my laptop.

To describe it better: it flickers, then turns white, and if it does go back, it's usually with brightness changes.

A temporary solution is usually moving the screen up and down till the image is back, or by restarting the computer. It's obviously a hardware problem but certain things like it being fixed after reboot, or the fact that full-screen videos make it worse makes me suspect it might be a software issue.

I would appreciate any info about this issue (Cause, How to fix, Cost)

Thank you in advance.

Well ok it could be two things,

1) the screen ribbon cable in the back has come loose or you have done something to damage the screen (unlikely)

2) The video card has burned out or has an error in connection (more likely)

If the laptop has a VGA port, blue port with pin holes, see if you can find a monitor to plug it into, if the same problem occurs on the new monitor its the video card if not then its the screen

Solutions:

1) Buy a new screen on ebay or something and find instructions to replace it

2) Buy a new video card from best buy or something and find instructions to replace it

i might the two learn the BIOS beep codes on your specific type or call Dell Tech help < get waiting for a problematic communication with a solid Indian-accessory. 9 out of 10 situations, the computing gadget took a jolt, and the memory, cpu, or video card are not from now on seated appropriate. solid success!

It does sound like hardware from the description given.

Have you checked for updated video drivers from dell's website?
