The price of an LCD Monitor is just the half of that of an LCD TV. Any disadvantage in using and LCD Monitor as TV using an external tuner card(which does not require computer to connect with)? Kindly give expert opinions. Thanks in advance.

I've looked into this and it is not that cheap. Monitors on your computer really don't do that well for tv but I've seen very inexpensive tvs.

A 26" LCD monitor will cost you around $650, a good TV tuner card around $150-200. If you want a larger screen, you would probably get the TV cheaper, because a larger screen monitor would be a special order for most businesses. Don't know of any special problems with TV tuner cards, they've been around a while so most problems have been worked out.

Should work. A LCD monitor is the same as a LCD TV only it's missing the tuner. Add an external tuner, or even a cable box from your cable provider, and it should work. I had a setup like this years ago, but that was before HD TV.
