I have a FPD1810 Gateway monitor. Will this fit and power it? The monitor back looks like this:

It looks like your monitor uses a separate power supply - either a "wall wart" or a desktop unit. You need to find a supply that has the same voltage and current rating, with the same connector, wired the same way. It is very unlikely that the Radio Shack one will be suitable. Sorry.

Edit:

On the label on the back of the monitor it should tell you what the power in should be. It will be something like 12V 1000mA. It might also have a little symbol and / or say AC or DC.

If the inlet connector is a standard one (can't see from the photo), ie. a round hole with a little pin in the centre, then it should be easy to get a replacement power supply but you need the information above.

Edit 2:

It is 12V AC. There are shops on Ebay selling them. Best to buy one from there then you know it will work.

probably not. it's not the right ampere

just buy this

http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-AC-adapter-power-Gateway-FPD-1810-LCD_W0QQitemZ260117276221QQihZ016QQcategoryZ29503QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

it's cheaper, and it's an exact replacement. If you don't like ebay to buy things from, there are plenty of companies on the web that will ship you the correct replacement part.

The power cord is common to many computer peripherals and yoy may have one around or ask a fiend who has many computers.
